Why Join FarmHouse

Friendships

College is a time in a students life when friendships form with those who share common values and goals. Along with that FarmHouse men strive to the qoute "good is not good enough".

No Hazing
FarmHouse is opposed to hazing of any kind. Parents are invited to the initiation ceremony with a brunch. We have a saying which we follow "You can't build men by tearing down boys."

Recruitment Period

The first procedure in joining FarmHouse is Recruitment. The best way for us to get to know you and you to know us is simply by hanging out. Numerous Recruitment Events are scheduled throughout summer months and usually immediately in the fall.

Once the membership feels comfortable with a candidate, usually after they have visited the house a few times and have received unanimous approval by the membership, selected applicants can be given a bid. A bid is a document that formally invites a prospective member to join FarmHouse. Once a prospective member receives a bid and chooses to accept, the member is allowed to join during either of the two most upcoming New Member Education periods.

New Member Education Period

Upon the acceptance of a bid into FarmHouse Fraternity, prospective members undergo an eight-week New Member Education period. New Member Education is a time that almost every member will agree is one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences of their time at FarmHouse. The process is strategically designed to prepare individuals to become a whole man. During New Member Education, members learn academic and study skills, time management techniques, goal setting, parliamentary procedure, hazing awareness, team-building activities, FarmHouse Fraternity values and information and are even paired with an active member of the chapter to serve as a mentor or big brother.

The basis of our program is focused around the four “Attributes of FarmHouse”:

To Build the Whole Man:

Intellectually—to sharpen the mind

Spiritually—to provide the opportunity for spiritual growth

Socially & Morally—to develop socially as gentlemen with good moral character

Physically—to enhance physical health and wellbeing
